Cyclone Warriors
When a city fell, people answered.
The armed forces and the response to Cyclone Tracy
On Christmas Day 1974, Cyclone Tracy devastated Darwin. Cyclone Warriors follows the contribution of the armed forces and the people who helped a shattered city survive, evacuate and begin again.
Drawing on Dr Tom Lewis’s book, the documentary explores the Australian Defence Force and emergency and aid services through firsthand accounts of the relief effort, including the experiences of Indigenous evacuees from the Tiwi Islands and Belyuen.
Cyclone Warriors is a documentary from Small Screen Productions, independent documentary producers based in Darwin, Northern Territory.
